Ryan Wingo kept things short and sweet when asked a question about the quarterbacks he has played with. The Texas wide receiver nullified any possible comparison with just two words that meant everything.
When asked what the difference is between catching passes from Arch Manning and Quinn Ewers, Wingo simply replied: “No comment”.

The context of the question is abundantly clear. Ewers recently left for the NFL after being taken in the seventh round of the 2025 draft by the Miami Dolphins, while Manning now takes over as one of the most pressured college football players in history.
The native of Missouri caught 29 passes for 472 yards and two touchdowns as a true freshman in 2024, while splitting time with multiple quarterbacks including both Manning and Ewers at various times throughout the season.
Now entering his second season, Wingo is operating in a completely different circumstance. With Matthew Golden leaving Texas to join the Packers, he has become the likely No. 1 receiver in a Texas offense that will rely largely on Manning’s passing arm.

Manning and Wingo’s On-Field Chemistry Carries Into 2025
Wingo and Manning developed a relationship throughout the 2024 season. Manning played ten games and started two, typically having very visible chemistry with the young receiver whenever they shared the field.
That chemistry will be quite important as Texas heads into their new season in an expanded SEC. The Longhorns currently are very highly ranked to open their season and face a formidable opponent in Week 1 when they clash with national champion Ohio State.
Wingo also recently had some setbacks. He missed the end of spring camp with a hamstring issue
Manning enters the new season as the preseason Heisman favorite. He faces the kind of expectations no college player has ever faced as the most covered player in college football. The same pressure will extend to his supporting cast, with Wingo being the immediate product of those expectations.
The receiver room changed substantially after the 2024 season. With a handful of top receivers leaving, Wingo is one the most experienced options on the roster. There will always be a couple of pieces to lean on, such as transfer Emmett Mosley and DeAndre Moore, but it is evident to everyone involved that the offense should clearly flow through Wingo’s pass-catching ability and route running.
