Being a mom is a hard job. Being the mom of two NFL players? That’s harder, says Pilar Sanders. Pilar Sanders is the mom of Deion Sanders’ youngest kids: Shilo, Shedeur, and Shelomi Sanders. Unlike their older siblings from other marriages, the trio followed their dad’s example into sports.
While Shelomi Sanders is still a college basketball player, Shilo and Shedeur have recently made the jump to the NFL after a college career spent mostly under their father’s watchful eye at Colorado. In a video about Shilo’s and Shedeur’s season opener with Colorado last season, Pilar Sanders opened up about the pressure of being an athlete’s mom:
“I’m so excited. There’s a lot of pressure on moms, too. People don’t understand that, but anyway, especially with mine, because they always want me to do stuff.”
In more recent times, the brothers made their NFL debuts over the weekend. Shedeur was the first one to make his debut, being the starter for the Cleveland Browns’ preseason victory against the Carolina Panthers last Friday. The Browns won 30-10, with Shedeur Sanders throwing for 138 yards, with two touchdown passes and no interceptions.
Shilo Sanders’ debut was also successful, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beating the Tennessee Titans 29-7. He managed to get his first tackle, and while he didn’t see nearly as much action as his younger brother, he earned the praise of his coach, Todd Bowles.

In a reel published by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ Instagram account earlier in the week, Shilo Sanders can be seen sharing with his mom shortly after his debut. He brought her a special memento from his first NFL game: His debut jersey.
“Hey ya’ll. Just played my first NFL game, you know what I’m saying? Official. First game in the books. Shout out to my mom for coming; she went all the way to North Carolina for Shedeur’s game and then went to my game. So, you have my jersey. This is for you… It’s dirty.” Said Shilo Sanders as he gave the jersey to Pilar Sanders

Interestingly, the safety spoke with the media while leaving the stadium earlier and was asked if he would give his debut jersey to his dad. He replied that a Hall of Famer like Deion Sanders expected bigger gifts than a used debut jersey. It seems his mom did appreciate the gift.
