Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd recently got into a discussion over who has the prettier shot. Both of them are recognized among the best players in the new generation. While Bueckers has made it into the WNBA, Fudd still plays for UConn.
During Thursday’s episode of “Close Friends Only with Instagram” on YouTube, Fudd asked her girlfriend:
“Who has the prettier shot?” (0:53)
Bueckers immediately acknowledged that people would go with Fudd, but she wasn’t willing to go down without a fight. The Dallas Wings point guard said that her shot isn’t “ugly.”
“Yours is pretty. Mine is prettier, but like, yours is pretty,” Fudd responded.
Bueckers refuted Fudd’s claim and said:
“I wouldn’t necessarily say that…yours is prettier. You’re so compact, in like, everything is perfect. It has to be perfect. Me, I’m shooting one leg, side faders, like, step back. Yours is always like, shoulders square, feet square, elbow in, tucked, hip square, follow through right from here.”
Bueckers tried to explain that Fudd shoots very methodically. Every aspect of Fudd’s form is textbook perfect, whereas she simply shoots the ball whenever she gets an opportunity. At the end of the day, both of them are serious bucket getters.
“Yours is prettier, but mine is like, sexier,” Bueckers concluded.
Paige Buckers called Azzi Fudd a “silent assassin”
Further in their conversation, Paige Bueckers asked Azzi Fudd about her mentality on the court. She asked her if she’d prefer being confident before games and think that the girls on the opposition team can’t guard her, or if she gets nervous, feeling like she’s about to get locked up.
“My mentality is that they can’t guard me,” Fudd said. “But like, I don’t voice that. I keep it in, its internal. Like, I know that and that’s all that matters.” (2:07)
That was a confident answer, which essentially means that Fudd doesn’t fear any opponent, even if she doesn’t say it out loud. Impressed by how she explained it, Bueckers gave her a sweet compliment.
“Oh! Okay, silent assassin.”
Fudd had another question for her girlfriend during the first segment of their conversation. She asked:
“Would you say that you take creative chances on the court?”
Bueckers likes to take chances when she is in the moment, but believes that it doesn’t always go her way.
“There’s like two sides to taking a risk. One that it works out, and obviously the other side where it doesn’t.”
Even with a 50-50 chance, Paige Bueckers prefers to take her chances because if it goes well, it creates a moment for the whole team. And in case it doesn’t go her way, she is okay with being yelled at by the coach. In both scenarios, she moves on quickly to the next thing.
