Head coach Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks have built one of the strongest programs in women’s college basketball in recent years. Staley has been able to ensure, through several cycles of recruits, that the Gamecocks remain national championship contenders year after year. Since 2017, they have won three national championships and reached the final another time this past season.
In January, Staley received a contract extension that will keep her as the head coach until 2030. The extension is worth $25.25 million.

This week, it was revealed that in February, Staley’s assistant coaches also received raises that bring them to over $1 million annually, combined. This information was discovered by “The State.”
What Are the Contract Values for Dawn Staley’s Assistant Coaches?
According to documents received by “The State’ via a public records request, all of Staley’s assistants received an extension and a raise. Each of the assistants was notified of their extension on Feb. 26.
Lisa Boyer makes the most among the four assistant coaches. Her new salary is $512,600 annually, which is up from $432,600. Jolette Law’s new contract is for $353,992 annually after previously making $319,042. Next, Mary Wooley is making $227,520 on her new contract after previously earning $189,262. Lastly, Khadijah Sessions is making $85,125 annually after previously earning $50,000 annually.
In total, this brings the sum of the total contracts between the four assistant coaches to $1,179,237. In total, it was an increase of $188,333 across the four assistant coaches. Before the raises, the four coaches were making a little under $1 million total, and now they are nearly making $1.2 million combined.
While it is unclear how much input Dawn Staley had in ensuring her assistant coaches got pay raises, she has always been supportive of those around her. Her players and coaches always have good things to say about her, so it would not be shocking to hear that she advocated for her assistant coaches to get raises.
Staley and the rest of her Gamecocks staff will now work to get back to the national championship game for the third year in a row. After losing to the UConn Huskies this year, the Gamecocks will be looking to get back in the win column after winning in 2017, 2022, and 2024.
