Deion Sanders and Shedeur Sanders’ relationship evolved from just father to a football coach when the quarterback joined Jackson State in 2021 as a freshman. Since then, the duo has engaged in a pregame tradition where they walk the field together.
However, earlier this week, when Shedeur started the preseason opener for the Cleveland Browns against the Carolina Panthers, he continued the tradition of walking the sidelines but without his Hall of Fame father.
Bleacher Report shared the video on Instagram with the caption:
“Before his NFL debut, Shedeur did his pregame walk without his dad for the first time… Deion responded with a video of himself doing the walk in Colorado 🥹❤️”

It didn’t take long for fans to react to this. While some found the moment heartwrenching, others called out the Sanders family for drawing too much attention to themselves.
One fan found the moment emotional as he said: “Im crying 7am… lemme call my father.”
“Dude is such a good dad,” one fan wrote, summing up the admiration many felt for the bond between father and son.
Another user, @spidapassions, praised the family connection, saying: “A father like this everything and anything is possible 🔥🤎.”
Another fan wrote: “Beautiful father and son relationship, nothing but love for the Sanders family 💜💛.”
Meanwhile, one fan found this an attention-seeking stunt.
“Attention seekers go away,” one fan said.

How Coach Prime’s son, Shedeur Sanders, performed in the preseason opener for Cleveland?
Shedeur Sanders was stellar in the preseason debut for the Browns in their game against the Carolina Panthers. He completed 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 19 rushing yards. His most highlight-worthy pass was a 30-yard throw that ended in a spectacular one-handed catch by Luke Floriea.
Among all the rookies that made their preseason debut this week, Shedeur stands at the top in several categories. Pro Football Focus awarded him an 82.1 overall grade, placing him among the top QB performances of the week.
