Kreul chose Oklahoma over the likes of Texas, Florida, Ole Miss, and reigning national champions Ohio State. Fans quickly reacted to the news.
“Hope you have your Venmo private young man,” joked one person.
“TEXAS BODIED AGAIN,” complained another person.
“Who the hell picks Oklahoma over Ole Miss and Texas?” wondered one fan.
“Wow! Venables finally got a highly rated defensive player committed! His first one of the year,” said a surprised fan.
“Terrible decision young man,” lamented another.
Some fans said it’s best to hold one’s horses in this modern age of college football.
“Colton Vasek picked OU first originally too. We’ll see. Kids these days don’t know what the word commitment is,” wrote someone.
Others said there are bigger problems at Norman right now.
“Don’t care John Mateer gambled on sports,” said one person.

Jake Kreul hinted at choosing Oklahoma Sooners over other top schools in SEC
Speaking in July with ESPN, Jake Kreul almost let it be known that he would go for the SEC’s Oklahoma Sooners. According to his statements at the time, it was obvious that he had developed a great relationship with the Sooners’ coaching staff and that he had bought into Brent Venables’ vision for the team’s defense:
“The opportunity to play for a defensive-minded head coach and one of the best minds in the sport in coach Venables is something you may not get at every school,” Kreul said. “That piece is something that’s been very present for me throughout in terms of building my relationship with Oklahoma.”
This is an important recruitment victory for Oklahoma. The biggest loser in the situation is Ole Miss. Kreul was high on Lane Kiffin’s wishlist. The other big school heavily going after him was Oklahoma’s Red River rival, Texas.
