What Did JT Lindsey Do? LSU RB Set To Face Criminal Charges After Turning Himself In

Freshman LSU running back JT Lindsey has turned himself in to university police on charges of accessory to murder. Earlier on Friday, a warrant for his arrest was issued for two felony counts of accessory after the fact to second-degree murder. He allegedly allowed two teenagers wanted on second-degree murder charges to stay in his dorm overnight at Baton Rouge earlier in the year.

Lindsey’s attorney, Kris Perret, released the following statement to the public following the news of Lindsey’s arrest.

“At this time, guys, we are cooperating with LSU PD,” he said. “My client maintains he’s fully innocent of all charges and any wrongdoing. We hope to get this straightened out pretty quick and that’s all we have to say at this point. We will have more later.”

JT Lindsey was a four-star recruit for the class of 2025, who was considered the seventh-best running back in the nation at the time. He was also the fourth-best recruit in Louisiana and the 149th-best overall prospect in the nation, according to 247Sports. He signed on with the LSU Tigers in December 2024, and he enrolled in the school in late May of this year.

Brian Kelly on LSU Tigers’ running game coming into 2025

The news could be an important setback for the LSU Tigers’ running game in 2025. Speaking on Tuesday at a press conference, Brian Kelly made it clear the team still has ways to go with regards to the running game development:

“I think we’ve made some progress. We struggled a little today with movement. As you know, we’re moving a lot up front and this is the week we’re installing some of our movement, so that becomes a little more difficult on our guys up front in handling our movement,” Kelly said Tuesday during a preseason media availability. (9:45)

“(But) the guys up front are pretty good. So I think more than anything else it’s just handling the movement up front. But I’m pleased with the structure of the run game, the way it’s progressing from a direct snap to shotgun – a variety of different looks. And we still have a lot to install at this point,” he added.

Nonetheless, Lindsey’s absence could be easy to fix. The Tigers have two experienced running backs returning in 2025: Caden Durham and Kaleb Jackson. They also have freshman and former four-star recruit Harlem Berry.
