Kaidon Salter, the quarterback transferring to Colorado this season after Liberty and Tennessee, was very complimentary of his new wide receiver corps. A recent X post by Jake Schwanitz highlighted Salter’s comments on his current receiver room.
“It is the finest reception room I have had since I have been college.” he said.

Kaidon Salter’s history of talented receivers imply how good this Colorado receiving room is. In 2021, Salter was initially fighting snaps at Tennessee, where he trained with receivers such as Jalin Hyatt who is now in the NFL playing with the New York Giants. At Liberty, Salter had Demario Douglas and Treon Sibley as key targets that made a significant contribution to the Liberty offense in his four years tenure.
Colorado has been busy upgrading its receiving corps through transfer portal. There are several notable ones, including five-star receiver Hykeem Williams out of Florida State.
Williams brings size and big-play potential to the table according to 247 Sports. The Buffs also added another receiver, Sincere Brown, last month out of Campbell, another player analysts suggest to be a playmaker in the room.

Colorado’s QB Battle Heating Up: Kaidon Salter vs. Julian Lewis
The quarterback battle in Colorado is heating up in this preseason and Kaidon Salter, a veteran transfer, will compete with blue-chip freshman Julian Lewis to win the job.
During Big 12 Media Day in July, coach Deion Sanders seemed impressed by the talent of both contenders.
“We brought both of them because I don’t know which one’s gonna start,” Sanders said. “We definitely want to continue to develop JuJu, but Kaidon is unbelievable.”
The success at Liberty that Salter has already demonstrated, such as leading the Flames to a 13-0 regular season in 2023, a New Year Six bowl, and throwing more than 1,800 passing yards and 15 touchdowns in 2024, puts Lewis under pressure to earn his snaps.
This season Colorado will be without both Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter who were both big contributors to the 2024 team. Coach Sanders will have a huge decision to make as the season start looms in Boulder.
