The Sacramento State Hornets, coached by NBA legend Mike Bibby, recently released their full schedule of home and away games for the 2025-26 season. This time around, the Hornets will be coached by Bibby and four-time NBA champion Shaquille O’Neal, who was appointed as the general manager earlier in the offseason.
On Thursday, August 7, Sacramento State Basketball’s Instagram account released the team’s full schedule. The incoming Sacramento State team will open its campaign on Nov. 4 with a home game against the Dominican Penguins. This will be followed by a couple more home games against the Jessup Warriors and the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos. Their first road game will come against the UC Davis Aggies on Nov. 14.
After several more non-conference matchups, including highly-anticipated games against the UCLA Bruins and California Bears, the Hornets will open 2025 Big Sky conference play on Jan. 1 against the Idaho State Bengals in away territory. Their conference schedule will run through March 2 in the hopes of making the conference tournament from March 7 onwards. In total, the Hornets are set to have 14 home games and 16 road matchups.

In the 2024-25 season, the Hornets, then under the tutelage of interim head coach Michael Czepil, finished with an overall record of 7-25 (3-15 Big Sky). Czepil was appointed as the team’s main tactician after the previous head coach, David Patrick, left for a position on the LSU Tigers. Currently, Sacramento State has yet to make an NCAA or NIT tournament appearance in its program history.
