Arch Manning’s Grandad Archie Manning Makes Thoughts Clear on Texas QB’s Future With Steve Sarkisian’s Team

Arch Manning will be leading the Texas Longhorns this season for the first time as the undisputed star after playing backup to Quinn Ewers for two years. However, his future is already up for debate, as the odds-on favorite for the Heisman Trophy is already soaring in the NFL drafts.

There is intense speculation going on among fans and analysts on whether Manning will enter the 2026 NFL draft. The latest to add voice to this front is Arch Manning’s grandfather, Archie Manning. While Archie hasn’t talked with his grandson regarding his plans for the future, the grandfather believes he will stay with Texas beyond this season as well.

“Arch isn’t going to do that,” Manning told Texas Monthly. “He’ll be in Texas.”

Manning has only played 12 games in his college career, with 10 of them arriving last season. He has amassed 969 passing yards and nine touchdowns in his career. Moreover, he has registered 115 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

Arch Manning staying for another season beyond 2025 is what many analysts also feel, including Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam. Last week, he said:

“I think, if you know the Manning family, I would bet that – and I don’t know Arch at all. I’d bet he stays in college two years. I don’t even think that’s worth discussing.”

What Does Texas QB1 Arch Manning Think About This Speculation?

During the SEC Media Days, Arch Manning was asked the same question when he addressed the reporters. However, the Longhorns quarterback is rather focused on getting better every day without thinking too much about the future.

“I’m really just worried about getting through this interview and then getting through the run tomorrow,” Manning said. “I’m just focused on this year and getting better each day.”

Manning is already a leading candidate for the Heisman in the upcoming season. According to BetMGM, he has +600 odds, which are the best currently to win the award. While many are expecting Manning to dominate college football next season, his father, Cooper, believes his son will likely struggle amid huge expectations.

“I mean, you know how they do it in the media; they crown you way too early and then they jump on and kill you,” Cooper said (via NY Post). “So he’s getting way too much attention and way too much credit and he’s going to struggle, and they’re going to say, ‘He’s not as good; he’s overrated!’ It’s coming; everybody knows it.”

It remains to be seen if Arch Manning will indeed prove the oddsmakers right and live up to the high preseason expectations with Steve Sarkisian’s group.
