$170,000,000-Worth Lil Wayne Takes Clear Stance On Travis Hunter’s Two-Way Role, Day After Jags’ Depth Chart Surfaces

Will Travis Hunter succeed in 2025? The return of football is almost upon us. With the start of the NFL preseason this week, fans are ready for the return of their favorite sport. With it comes the usual conversations about how franchises and players will fare in this new campaign. One of the biggest conversations is how well the 2025 NFL draftees do when transitioning to the pros. In particular, one player drew the attention of the public for his rookie season: Jacksonville Jaguars’ Travis Hunter.

All interested stakeholders, players, coaches, executives, and fans want to see if he will be able to play two-way football as he did in college. In modern times, no player in the NFL has played both offense and defense at a high level, as he did during his time at Colorado, hence why everyone is interested in seeing how the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner does in 2025.

If someone is on Hunter’s corner, it is rapper Lil Wayne. Speaking on Wednesday on ESPN’s “SportsCenter”, the Grammy Award winner, who is worth $170 million, as per Celebrity Net Worth, said this of Hunter (5:20):

“It’s innate for him. It’s what he does. It’s what he’s been doing his whole life. Ever since he’s been playing football, it’s been defense and offense. That’s what he does. So I believe that shortening him, taking it out, or cutting it out, however you want to word it, you’d be trying to change him. And we don’t want that.”

In 2024, Hunter famously won the Heisman Trophy while being the Colorado Buffaloes’ leading defensive back and wide receiver. This led to him becoming the second overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Davante Adams Doesn’t Think Travis Hunter Will Be Able To Play Both Sides Of The Ball In The NFL

However, not everyone believes Hunter will be able to do in the NFL what he did in college. Los Angeles Rams’ Davante Adams spoke this week with the Bleacher Report and shared his opinion about the situation.

“I want to see Travis Hunter do his thing,” Adams said. “I’d love to see him go and ball, whether it’s offense or defense.”

“I don’t even think it’s possible to do, for real,” Adams said via Bleacher Report. “Not at a high level. It’s hard enough to go cover a punt and then be on one side of it. That’s just a lot of mileage, man.”

It’s clear that while Adams would love to see it happening, he doesn’t think it’s possible. The Jacksonville Jaguars have signaled throughout the year that they will allow it to happen. Saturday will give us our first glimpse of whether this will happen, with the Jaguars set to play the Pittsburgh Steelers at home at 7 pm ET.
