Deion Sanders Jr. Goes ‘CRAZY’ Over News of Shedeur Sanders Potentially Starting for Browns

Deion Sanders Jr, the brother of Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, was in pure excitement when news that his brother was set to start for the Cleveland Browns in their preseason opener came out. His reaction can be seen in the video clip shared by welloffmedia on YouTube.

According to several reports, most notably ESPN , Shedeur Sanders will start the Browns’ preseason game against the Carolina Panthers. Given that Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel have some nagging injuries, it isn’t altogether surprising that Sanders will start against the Panthers.

Although he is the QB4 on the unofficial depth chart of the team, the Browns will share the reps between Sanders and the newly signed Tyler Huntley in this game. It is a big early challenge for the 23-year-old rookie who dropped to the fifth round.

Sanders has not been able to get a first-team snap in camp, but his poise and discipline have captured attention. During team drills on Day 4 of training camp, he was 8 of 11 passing with three touchdowns, the most of any QB in the room that day. Even though his rep count is low, his confidence suggests that he is certainly ready.

Browns’ QB Room in Flux: Four-Way Competition Emerges

Kenny Pickett, who many believe was in the lead to win the starting QB spot, has been limited since sustaining a hamstring injury on July 26. He is currently being treated on a day-to-day basis. Meanwhile, third-round rookie draft pick Dillon Gabriel, is also having hamstring tightness, which has also limited his practice reps.

Shedeur Sanders did not participate in team drills Saturday with soreness in his shoulder/arm. But he was back Monday and said he had no problems, that the injury was simply an adaptation to the abrupt stops and starts in practice. His anticipated arrival is when he is reported to have a chance of starting the preseason game, and could divide reps with freshly signed veteran Tyler Huntley, who was recently acquired to add depth due to the injuries.

Shedeur is a rising star and has attracted attention with his attitude. As competition becomes stiff, he asked his father, Deion Sanders, not to attend Browns camp so that he would not distract his on-field improvement. Came back Sanders:

“I don’t want him to come see me now, he can’t be proud of me now. I had to get where I am going.” He said in a press conference following practice.”

As the joint practices are still happening, and no starter has officially been announced by Coach Kevin Stefanski, the competition over the roster spots is open. As the preseason progresses, the quarterback narrative of the Browns may change rather suddenly before Week One of the 2025 season.
