Since taking the head coaching job for the Colorado Buffaloes two seasons ago, Deion Sanders has helped turn the program around. Before his arrival, the Buffaloes were viewed as one of the worst programs in the Power Four.
However, since then, Sanders has turned the program into a highly competitive team in the Big 12 and a popular destination for recruits.
Part of the reason for this has been Deion Sanders’ presence. However, he has been aided by the coaching staff he has surrounded himself with. Before last season, one of the people he added to his staff was Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Sapp. He was added to the coaching staff as a senior quality control analyst. Heading into his second season with the team, he was promoted to the pass rush coordinator position.
On Tuesday, Sapp told reporters that he never thought that he had an interest in coaching, but now he is addicted to it and loves Colorado.
“I never thought I wanted this job ever in my life,” Warren Sapp said. “I’m addicted. I can’t wait to ride over and see that panoramic view and the school at the bottom. I’m rolling. I’m rolling to this place man. Ain’t no better time for me right now. I got my babies all around me. They read to work. We ready to get to a season. I know all of Colorado ready for it, so we gonna get right.”

Warren Sapp Explains How Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes Will Succeed This Season
Head coach Deion Sanders was able to turn the Colorado Buffaloes into a Big 12 championship contender with stars like WR/CB Travis Hunter and QB Shedeur Sanders. However, now that both of them are starting their NFL careers, the Buffaloes will need to succeed more as a team.
On Tuesday, Sapp spoke about how Sanders emphasizes attention to detail as a key to their staying competitive in the Big 12. Sapp also mentioned that he is trying to help more with that since Sanders has a lot to deal with in his personal life right now.
“It’s the little things that will make us great,” Sapp said. “It’s the tedious repetition of the little things, over and over and over again. That’s what we do. He (Sanders) has so much other things on his plate. I figured I’d handle the little things. We really don’t ask much of them, except, let’s go to work and that’s what we’re going to do.”
It is worth noting that Deion Sanders beat bladder cancer and returned to the Colorado training camp late last month.
