Monday was the first time the preseason depth chart was released by Indianapolis. The same report shows that Leonard has been slotted as QB3 of the team behind Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones. Although he is still behind the quarterbacks in the depth chart, Horka noted that Leonard is already applying pressure to the two quarterbacks, which could result in an interesting storyline to watch during the preseason in the coming weeks.

What’s Next for the Colts? Training Camp Reveals a Two-Man Quarterback Race
The Indianapolis Colts quarterback competition has gotten new life with the buzz of social media surrounding the early training camp exploits of former Notre Dame QB Sam Hartman. The franchise is currently considering two potential starters for the upcoming season: the 2023 first-round pick Anthony Richardson, who is back after shoulder surgery, and newly acquired free agent Daniel Jones.
ESPN’s Stephen Holder reported that Anthony Richardson is still expected to be the starter, but his limited practice time due to injury has opened the door to others to put forward a case. According to Holder, Daniel Jones has looked sharper than anticipated, with firm control of the offense and the ability to perform well in red-zone situations.
The Colts have an early schedule in the preseason, and this can be used as the final tryout. Steichen has stressed the significance of situational performance, and all the quarterbacks will get chances with the first unit before roster reductions occur.
The QB depth chart is still fluid as the Colts wait to see how Richardson is healing. However, Hartman is creating a buzz, and Jones is making a case to have reps, so the focus is squarely on how the team will manage its most analyzed position going into September.
