Head coach Kim Mulkey and the LSU Tigers women’s basketball team are preparing for another season. However, the team has a big obstacle to overcome. Former Tigers superstar Aneesah Morrow will not be back with the team because she has started her WNBA career. As a result, Flau’jae Johnson and MiLaysia Fulwiley are expected to carry more of the offensive load.
Additionally, in an effort to ensure the team is in good hands for years to come, Mulkey worked hard on recruiting this year. The team has several players signed to join the Tigers next season, including five-star Bella Hines. Hines was one of the most dynamic high school scorers in New Mexico history, finishing her career with more than 3000 points. She spoke this week about being excited to bring her shooting ability to Mulkey’s squad.
“I feel like the shooting ability is definitely something big. I feel like that’s something a lot of teams need,” Hines said (via CBS Sports). “And then, defense I feel like is what keeps you on the floor. If you can play defense, you’ll stay in the game. So I’m willing to sacrifice my body by taking charges and stuff. I love taking charges. So I definitely say that’s one thing I’ll bring to the game.”
Bella Hines Speaks About Her Goals at LSU
On Friday, in the same interview, Bella Hines spoke about her goals for her career at LSU. She spoke about how, above all else, she wants to help bring the Tigers a national championship.
“A national championship, for sure,” Hines said. “But I also just want to learn. And like, I want to learn from people above me, The seniors, the sophomores, juniors, everybody. I just want to learn a lot more knowledge for the game, especially playing for Coach Mulkey, I feel like that’s definitely doable to learn a lot.
Hines also opened up about wanting to have an impact on the youth, especially on people from where she is from.
Bella Hines’ goal at LSU is to learn as much as she can and win a national championship, while also inspiring people from New Mexico.
