Wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, quarterback Julian Sayin and the rest of the Ohio State Buckeyes are busy preparing for the upcoming season, where they’ll be tasked to defend the national championship under head coach Ryan Day.
As they unwind during their ongoing training camp, the players were featured in an Instagram video where they were asked to sign old photos of themselves. The video was intended to capture the hilarious reactions of the players upon seeing their childhood photos.
Sayin was the first one in the video as he revealed the photo belonged to when.
“This is a terrible photo. This is like sophomore year of high school,” he said in the video.
Wide receiver Brandon Inniss was in splits seeing the photo. He said:
“Oh, y’all got this off my mom’s Facebook or something.”
Jeremiah Smith’s reaction was also captured. The star receiver said:
“Y’all crazy. Oh! How y’all get this? How’d y’all find this? That’s crazy. Ah! That is crazy.”
Several other reactions were captured as players gave candid remarks seeing their photos growing up. The Instagram video was captioned:

Jeremiah Smith praises Ohio State’s potential new QB1 Julian Sayin
After quarterback Will Howard led the Buckeyes to the national championship last season, he left college football to join the NFL. Replacing him under center will be Julian Sayin, who transferred from Alabama to Ohio State in January last year.
Both Jeremiah Smith and Sayin will be key if the Buckeyes want to run things back up. It will be important for their offense to have the chemistry between the two. With the training reps going on, Smith is already towards that partnership.
“That arm is different,” Jeremiah Smith said. “He can make any and every throw. Just a smart quarterback. Like me, he’s a little quiet. He’s starting to come out of his shell. He’s definitely going to be a guy. It’s going to be scary for opponents.”
While Ryan Day hasn’t officially confirmed his starting quarterback for the next season, with both Sayin and Lincoln Kienholz competing for the spot, Smith finds both of them good for the job.
“It really doesn’t matter who is the quarterback,” Smith said at Big Ten Media Days in July. “Whoever is the quarterback, they’ll have great tools around them to be successful. It’s really up to them on how things play out. But, I know both … guys. Whoever it is, is going to have a great career and great season.”
It remains to be seen whom Ryan Day picks as the starting quarterback for the 2025 season.
