The Browns’ quarterback room is already crowded – and now, even WWE superstars are giving their input. In a recent interview, WWE star and Cleveland native The Miz, a lifelong fan of the Browns, made a very bold proclamation. He claimed that the team’s future is summed up in Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel.
Miz said on a sit-down on The Rich Eisen Show, noting that there is currently a quarterback circus in Cleveland.
“I have faith in Kevin Stefanski, and I think people don’t make fun of me when I say I believe in Kevin Stfansky. And the reason that is is because he’s a two-time coach of the year. And there’s a reason he is that. And he’s able to take quarterbacks and give them everything they need to succeed. So I think with Dillon and Shedeur, we have our franchise quarterback.” He said.
He also stressed the role of the preseason, saying that it is the critical battlefield of the long-term course of the team.
Although the present-day Browns have such veterans on their roster as Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, the hype surrounding two high-profile rookies, Sanders and Gabriel, keeps increasing. Miz, with his animated persona, might be putting down a bold claim, but his statement is not too off the mark of what fans are seeing at training camp.

Can Cleveland Really Find Its Franchise QB in This Rookie Class?
Miz may be making it sound like entertainment, but the quarterback situation in the Browns is very real and very fluid. After the season-long injury woes of Deshaun Watson and the short-term signing of Joe Flacco, the Browns went into camp with an open competition. Dillon Gabriel, the third-round pick, and Shedeur Sanders, the first-year player on Colorado, seem to be under serious consideration.
Gabriel has the potential to be a dual-threat in the NFL, but it is unknown how fast he will be able to learn the offense. Sanders, on the other hand, arrives with big-stage composure and a national stage that has never gone away since his first practice reps. Both are promising, but neither has distinguished itself as yet.
This is nothing new to the franchise, as it has been plagued by QB instability over the years, so it is not unexpected that even preseason snaps are already causing this much buzz. Kevin Stefanski, as The Miz noted, is a two-time Coach of the Year, and his talent development skills under pressure have helped the Browns to stay on top of many teams even when they lack an answer at the quarterback position in the long term.
The Miz is a part of the sports entertainment world, but when it comes to Cleveland football, he is speaking from his heart. And just like the rest of Browns Nation, he is hoping that things will become clear and that a franchise QB will finally come along this fall.
