In his latest trolling masterclass, Lane Kiffin delivered once again; this time, Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze was the target. A tweet on X went viral after Kiffin’s single emoji response to a poor choice of words from Freeze.
Freeze dropped a comment when he was describing the physical demands of SEC play at Auburn’s fall training camp. It didn’t take long to go viral, and Ole Miss head coach made quick work of the opportunity that presented in front of him.

Freeze and his Tigers are under heavy pressure to win and to win now. A losing record for Auburn could lead to Freeze being removed from the head coach spot.
This also isn’t the first time Hugh Freeze has been trending on social media for the wrong reason either. The Auburn head coach had another viral outing when he posted a win at a golf tournament, suggesting a lack of focus on his job.

$14M worth Lane Kiffin (as per Celebrity Net Worth) once again took a shot at Freeze with a sarcastic “Game is on” tweet. The developing rivalry will certainly be a storyline, but unfortunately the two do not play each other in the regular season this year.

Can Hugh Freeze’s Auburn turn it around?
The Tigers’ 2026 recruiting class is outside the SEC top 10 and not even close to rivals like Alabama. This is after the Tigers started 2026 with one of the best classes in college football according to Brad Crawford of CBS Sports.
Many are quick to point out that Hugh Freeze hasn’t been focused enough and is the current reason the team is flatlining. However, he was quick to reassure fans about his commitment on David Pollack’s “See Ball Get Ball” podcast in July.
“You know, everybody seems to like to talk about my golf game. … I do love golf. I enjoy playing. But what people don’t realize is, you know, I assure you that I never missed a camp day or a recruiting day,” Freeze said. (0:30)
Luckily for Freeze, the task seems pretty simple. Many believe that all Freeze needs is six wins to keep his job. A lot of that will hinge on how well his team performs early in the season.
The Tigers play Baylor, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M, all on the road and all before October. Considering Oklahoma and A&M are both going to be ranked, it will be a tough task for the Tigers.
With the increasing pressure on Auburn and their flailing recruiting class, the Tigers look like a train wreck heading into the season. If Freeze doesn’t start trending for the right reasons, the next viral tweet will be the one announcing him getting fired.
