After a cancer battle, Coach Prime opened up and delivered a message of positivity in a press conference. Although Deion Sanders has never shied away from attention, this was not just a viral moment. This time, it was a matter of survival.
Sanders revealed at the beginning of fall camp what many had secretly feared: he had been fighting bladder cancer and had undergone a major operation that involved removing his bladder. Even though doctors confirmed it was aggressive, Coach Prime is now cancer-free. Although many would take this opportunity to relax, Sanders got right back to work.
“I didn’t stare death in the face, I stared life in the face … I’m allowed to go through these trials and tribulations so that I can touch and reach and bless people with the words, with the energy, with that thing that God gave me. So I didn’t think about no death … I got too much life to be thinking about death,” Sanders said at a press conference on Monday.
“I got work to do, we got to win a darn championship and you talking about death,” Sanders added.

Coach Prime was extremely thankful that he was able to keep his health private throughout the press conference. He also made sure everyone knew that he was 100% healthy.
Although the most important message from the conference was that Deion Sanders emphasized how he hoped his experience could help others. He highlighted that the publicity of his situation could help some others to get checked out.
“We helping some folks today,” he said. “Cause if it happened to Prime baby, it can happen to you.” (14:48)

Deion Sanders Excited To Be Back at Colorado
Deion Sanders has no intention of slowing down despite the diagnosis and his healing. Coach Prime is already back to work, preparing for a season with a new look and getting ready to play against a roster full of new players.
“I’m here and I’m thankful. So, I’m happy and elated about everything and especially this opportunity that I have to coach these young men, and to lead some of these women that are part of our organization.” (39:16)
Deion Sanders expressed his happiness at returning to Boulder and guide his team into Year 3.
“I’m so thankful to be back in Boulder, you have no idea,” Sanders said. “But I never doubted, one bit, that I wouldn’t be.” (39:35)
As Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter have left for the NFL, attention is now focused on how Sanders builds his next team.
Colorado is in the midst of a huge starting quarterback battle between freshman Julian Lewis and transfer Kaiden Salter. Both seem to have the ability to take the team to the next level, and a decision on the starter hasn’t been made.
Coach Prime has been clear all offseason that he is going to take as much time as he wants to make a decision. The only question is whether too much time has run off the clock.
