Uncle Neely Makes Feelings Very Clear On Deion Sanders’ Retirement Rumors

In a matter of hours, Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is likely to address what really happened this summer that made him stay away from Boulder. Many are thinking that Coach Prime is going to announce his retirement.

Sanders is going through some health issue, but neither he nor his loved ones has spoken anything regarding his health. The only thing we know at this point is that his underlying health concern made him lose over 14 pounds of weight.

Ahead of his scheduled press conference on Monday, Uncle Neely, a close family friend, has directly addressed the retirement rumors that have dominated online chatter. Neely acknowledged the tensions and speculations surrounding Deion Sanders’ situation.

“There’s some somberness to it, you know, but there’s also just unbridled optimism and enthusiasm because I know the end game,” Neely said on The Morning Run. “When I was in the room with the other big names, there was still a lot of speculation—you know, people don’t know. There are rumors out there: ‘He’s going to resign today.’ People are saying, ‘Oh, we knew this was coming because he’s not coaching his boys. He’s looking for a way out.’”

Neely added that people are misinterpreting the situation because they don’t know what really happened.

“That’s the furthest thing from the truth. When they find out what really happened, and the choices that he made—voluntary choices—it proves how much he wants to be a coach,” Neely added. “Because he could have taken it easier. He could have taken a different path and had a lighter load, but he chose the more aggressive path so that he could be back in time. The culture reminds me of Ronnie Lott saying, ‘If I can’t play, just take the finger off.’”
