Former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft. For months, he was projected to be a top-five pick in the draft, but he fell all the way to the fifth round. As a result, he is now in one of the most chaotic QB rooms in the NFL.
Sanders is one of four QBs competing for the starting job in Cleveland, and Sanders likely entered training camp as fourth on the depth chart. Despite that, Sanders has been impressive early in camp. Notably, on Saturday morning, a clip posted on X by ESPN Cleveland went viral, showing Sanders complete an impressive TD pass.

This led to a big reaction from fans, including many who called for Sanders to jump ahead of other quarterbacks on the depth chart.
“Give him a fair shot. Stop Kenny (Pickett), happen he had 2 years. If he was that guy, it would have happened,” one fan wrote.
“Look how high his release and arm is… (Dillon) Gabriel can barely see over his O-line. It’s clear who should be ahead of who in the rookie competition,” one fan commented.
“You can’t teach that kind of ball placement man!! Only a select few QBs just have it,” one fan added.
Fans continued to react in the comments.
“U know what funny this gets talked about more then Gabriel beauty of a deep ball yesterday,” one fan wrote.
“Shedeur is going to be a baller in Cleveland,” one fan commented.
“I’ve seen enough, start shedeur!” one fan added.

Shedeur Sanders Is Not Worried About Getting Limited Reps During Training Camp
Shedeur Sanders is one of four quarterbacks competing for the starting role at Cleveland, joining Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel. Early in training camp, he is the only one who has not been seen taking reps with the first team. While this might be bad news for his starting prospects, Sanders is approaching the situation with a positive attitude.
On Friday, when speaking with the media, Sanders spoke about how it is not his place to answer why he is not getting first-team reps. He told reporters that he is focused on doing what he can to stand out to coaches and is not worried about things that are out of his control. He expressed that he is grateful for the opportunity to earn his spot on the Browns’ roster this season.
