The Cleveland Browns drafted two quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL draft. In the third round, they picked Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel and in the fifth round, they got their hands on Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, who was initially projected to be a first-round selection.
Both the QBs will be in a race to secure one of the possible three QB spots on the 53-man active roster. They will have to battle with veterans Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco.
Prior to Day 3 of training camp at CrossCountry Mortgage, Gabriel took questions from the media where he answered how his relationship has been with fellow first-year signal caller during the OTAs and training camp.
“Yeah, it’s good. I think being in similar stages of our careers—both of us rookies, trying to learn and figure out our way—there’s a bunch of ways to do it,” Gabriel said (7:29). “We’ve just been doing it by being ourselves. It’s been a lot of fun that way.”
Despite competing for opportunities, Gabriel highlighted that their quarterback room remains collaborative rather than tense.
“And as you know, we have a fun room—a room with a lot of diversity in many ways. We use that to our advantage—keep learning, keep growing,” he added.

Shedeur Sanders Talks Up Camaraderie in Browns QB Room, Lauds Dillon Gabriel & Veteran Leaders
Shedeur Sanders has also previously spoken about the healthy relationship within the Browns quarterback room. During his conversation with Kay Adams on FanDuel TV’s Up & Adams, Sanders explained that despite what others might think, the group remains clear on one goal and is learning from each other.
“Everybody’s cool,” Sanders said during the NFLPA Rookie Premiere. “Outside the room, people try to pit us against each other, but inside the room, we know we’re one.”
In a separate conversation, Sanders also spoke about his relationship with Dillon Gabriel.
“Everything’s been cool,” Sanders told SportsCasting’s DJ Siddiqui. “He’s a cool person. I like how he handles situations, especially just the negative media that’s coming his way. I’m just happy he’s positive, he’s able to handle everything. We’re truly cool.”
The Browns are likely to include three quarterbacks in their final roster. Both the rookies are likely to make the final cut, meaning it’s a race between Flacco and Pickett. Whomsoever misses out between the two veterans is likely to get traded or released.
It remains to be seen how the Browns navigate the situation and how they handle both of their rookies going forward.
