Even though Shedeur Sanders has not yet played a preseason game for the Cleveland Browns, early rumors have begun to circulate. Foretelling that Sanders would be cut on Aug. 26 and go unclaimed through waivers, a former scout turned analyst from First Round Mock posted something on Friday that instantly went viral.

Although predictions like these are common during roster cut season, this one stood out due to its timing and confidence. Sanders was one of the more talked-about rookies coming into training camp which only brings more questions surrounding the prediction.
Following his selection in the fifth round of this year’s NFL Draft, Shedeur Sanders was surrounded by interest upon arriving at Browns camp, both for his off-field profile and his on-field potential. Having a stellar collegiate career and a well-known last name, his transition to the NFL has been closely observed.
Although he was not a first-round pick, he has made a positive impression in training camp. Despite this, Sanders is battling among four other quarterbacks to stay on the roster. The Browns will have to make decisions to cut their roster down and analysts have pointed towards one of the quarterbacks getting the boot.

If Shedeur Sanders Gets Cut, What Comes Next?
Should Shedeur Sanders be cut by the Browns before the start of the season, his options will not be limited for long. He brings more visibility and name value than most rookies ever do, even though he was selected in the fifth round. It is nearly a given that other teams will at least look when you put them in the spotlight.
The NFL constantly needs quarterbacks as players shift in and out if they are unable to perform. Taking into account injuries and teams constantly devolving younger players, there will be plenty of opportunities. If Sanders is cut, he may not be brought in imminently, but a backup role is potentially in the picture.
The notion that no one would risk anything on him seems unrealistic. A few plays in preseason or an opportunity midseason could completely flip the narrative.
Baker Mayfield had a similar opportunity and made the most of it as he now starts for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Either way, Sanders is ready for whatever happens in Cleveland.
“I know whenever I get my opportunity, I have to maximize it,” Sanders said.

With the amount of value at quarterback, Shedeur Sanders’ upside gives him plenty of time to prove himself, especially in the NFL. This will not be the end of his journey, as he has demonstrated his capability of handling attention regardless of whether he stays with Cleveland or moves on.
