Miami Hurricanes quarterback Carson Beck faced the media on Monday for the ACC Media Day and answered a few questions regarding some hot button issues from reporters. As expected, one of these questions was about his decision to transfer from Georgia to Miami.
He led Georgia to a 24-3 record and then he got injured, leading to some criticism from Bulldogs fans. He eventually entered the transfer portal and chose Miami. This is what he said on why he transferred:
“The biggest thing for me was the offensive fit. As a quarterback the offensive coordinator, the scheme, the talent and guys you have around you is huge for the success and ultimately the future of a quarterback, of me. This is my future and I think this decision is one of the better decisions I’ve made.”
After his injury, which was a torn UCL he suffered in the previous postseason, Beck had many who doubted if he could ever be the same dominant quarterback after that debilitating injury. At the ACC Media Day, Beck addressed his doubters.
“Everybody is entitled to an opinion,” the Miami quarterback said. “All I really can do is just go in and work every single day, try to get better with not only myself and my teammates, start building those relationships and continue to try to lead this team.”
As for the big question on a lot of people’s minds, he also addressed his injury and said that he is coming back better than ever.
“I’m doing good, man,” he said regarding his health. “I’ve been 100 percent for a while, throughout summer workouts. Really trying to build this chemistry with the wide receivers, watching film, extra routes. I’m feeling really good.”

Carson Beck Talks About Filling Cam Ward’s Shoes at Miami
Despite previously being the top quarterback at Georgia, Carson Beck is coming into Miami with some very big shoes to fill, and that is No. 1 NFL Draft pick Cam Ward. During the ACC Media Days, the new Miami shot caller addressed having to fill in for Ward.
“His success is undeniable,” he told reporters. “The last school I was at I followed up a two-time national champion, didn’t feel pressure there. It’s a game. I’ve played my whole life. It’s something I love to do. I have really good talent around me, coaches to help me not only achieve my goals but be really successful.”
During the ACC Media Days, Beck also addressed his relationship with Shannon Dawson at Miami, stating that he has been able to connect with him and that he had been watching what he and Cam Ward had done last year at Miami.
