Paige Bueckers Puts Trust In Girlfriend To Deliver Under Pressure

Shining in a colorful dress, Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers arrived at the 2025 WNBA All-Star Orange Carpet in Indiana on Thursday, July 17. She is coming off a successful college basketball season where she led the UConn Huskies alongside her girlfriend, Azzi Fudd, to their 12th national title.

At the Orange Carpet, a reporter asked the 23-year-old if her life was at stake, whom she would want to take the life-saving bucket to save her. Her reply gave a perfect nod to her evolving relationship with the Huskies guard.

“I’m pickin’ Azzi Fudd,” Bueckers told SportsCenter with zero hesitation.

Bueckers confirmed her romantic relationship with Azzi Fudd at the All-Star event, saying that the Huskies star is indeed her girlfriend. It came out during a Q&A, where Bueckers said her girlfriend went to St. John’s and won the 2019 Gatorade National Player of the Year. Finally, when the reporter asked for her girlfriend’s name, Bueckers said:

    “Azzi Fudd.”

While Bueckers is now in the WNBA after completing her senior season with UConn, she is surely missing her girlfriend, Azzi Fudd, who may declare for the 2026 WNBA Draft.

Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd Dropped Hints Before Confirming Relationship

Before it became official, Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd, who met in high school at USA Basketball tryouts, hinted at their romantic relationship on numerous occasions.

In May, Fudd shared a TikTok referencing “princess treatment” with Bueckers while talking about a dinner bill. However, the official confirmation arrived in June, when Fudd posted a mirror selfie, in which the back of her smartphone cover read:

    “Paige Buecker’s Girlfriend.”

Beyond public gestures, the duo has shared a snuggly selfie, matching necklaces, and PDA during Bueckers’ WNBA Draft celebration. Fudd has also attended multiple Wings games. She once wore Bueckers’ No. 5 jersey as well.

For those who don’t know, Bueckers played a big part in Fudd’s arrival at UConn. She prepared a video to show Fudd’s parents what it would look like if she signed with the Huskies.

Fudd once revealed her initial impression of Bueckers when they first met on the court during tryouts.

“We both made the team, I realized that she’s actually one of the best players I’ve ever seen play,” Fudd said. “She’s deceiving… I was like, ‘Okay, I guess I was wrong about her.’”

Let’s see if the two play for the same team after Fudd gets drafted next year. Wings will need to have a pick inside the top five for that possibility.
