As the WNBA is bracing for its All-Star Weekend, the league’s most popular player and top vote-getter for the All-Star Game, Caitlin Clark, is set to miss the game entirely. The Indiana Fever announced that she will indeed miss the July 18 game due to a groin injury.

She was supposed to be the team captain of Team Clark, as she received the highest number of votes to be an All-Star. However, her groin injury means that she will not only miss the big game, but also her highly anticipated Three-Point Contest showdown with Sabrina Ionescu the day before. This confirmation of her missing the game has gotten fans talking.
“Sabrina was gonna cook her in the 3point contest anyway,” one fan claimed.
“WNBAs worst nightmare,” another fan alluded, as many fans might not tune in without Clark.
“Yall act like she was gonna win it anyway 😂 Sabrina or the reigning champ was taking it… I do wish CC the best in her recovery though.” another fan pointed out.
Meanwhile, others were talking about the casual fans already predicting a ratings drop, while others were talking about people possibly not watching the game anymore now that Clark is not playing.
“Look at all these new casual fans talking about viewing and ratings …nothing about actual basketball 🤣,” pointed out one fan.
“If you don’t watch, you was NEVER a true wnba fan, just a casual!!🥂” another fan noted.
“she bout to show everyone just how many ppl aren’t about to tune in now,” said another person.
Even though fans were joking about it, Clark’s absence from the game, which is being held in her team’s home city of Indianapolis, might mean a huge blow in not just the ratings, but also ticket sales.
Caitlin Clark Says She Must Rest During the WNBA All-Star Weekend
The WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday was supposed to be all about Caitlin Clark, as she leads Team Clark against Team Collier while also trying to win the Three-Point Contest and prove that she is the best shooter in the league. However, with her groin injury, that is not happening. Here is what she said when she announced her injury:
“I have to rest my body,” her statement said. “I will still be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for all the action and I’m looking forward to helping (New York Liberty coach) Sandy (Brondello) coach our team to a win.”
Clark got injured on Tuesday as her Indiana Fever defeated the Connecticut Sun 85-77. She was supposed to play on Thursday against the New York Liberty, but missed her anticipated duel with Ionescu once again.
