‘He’s Hypocritical’: Paul Finebaum Doesn’t Hold Back on Deion Sanders and Colorado Ahead of 2025 CFB Season

Deion Sanders is entering his third year as Colorado’s head coach in the 2025 college football season, following the departure of his star players, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter, to the NFL during the 2025 NFL Draft.

While the Buffaloes had an impressive 9-4 season during the 2024 college football season, Coach Prime and the team are projected to have a 6-6 season this year.

Does Deion Sanders have anything to prove this year? Paul Finebaum doesn’t believe so. During a segment on the “First Take” podcast, Finebaum said that he doesn’t believe Coach Prime has anything to prove this year, while applauding him for still being very entertaining.

“I don’t think he does. He is still one of the most entertaining people in sports. We’re gravitating to him, even though Vegas is saying the over and under for the win total is six and a half most of the time, the number one show on morning television first day doesn’t talk about six win team, but we on because He’s entertaining. He’s compelling. Yes, he’s hypocritical, but that’s that goes for everybody in college sports, as Kevin alluded to. So it doesn’t really matter what he does this year.”

“I think last year he proved that he is relevant. And quite frankly, I’m the one right here with Stephen A who said, I don’t think that we’ll be talking about this guy in November. And we were, because they won a couple of big games. They had magical players.” Finebaum added.

Regarding what might happen this year, Finebaum predicted they’ll probably be drawn to something he says in November 2025, rather than their game.

Deion Sanders Refuses To Comment on His Health During Big 12 Media Days

Coach Prime has been facing some health issues in the last few months. He has reportedly lost 14 lbs due to an unspecified illness and has taken some time away from the Buffaloes.

After missing a few practice sessions, Sanders made his first big appearance during the 2025 Big 12 Media Days that took place in Texas, which is very close to the Colorado head coach’s place.

During the interview, Sanders bluntly made it clear that he wasn’t there to answer questions about his health and confirmed that he is doing alright and will be back in Boulder soon.
