Former LSU Tigers star and current Chicago Sky sophomore Angel Reese received support for her WNBA game on Monday, July 7. In the Sky’s 18th game of the 2025 WNBA season, Reese’s stepbrother, Mikael Hopkins, was in attendance to watch his stepsister and the rest of the Sky take on the Washington Mystics in their away fixture in the EagleBank Arena in Washington, D.C.
This prompted Hopkins to take a photo with Reese right after the game, through which he posted it on his Instagram stories. The 32-year-old then included a supportive caption towards Reese, in which the latter has reposted the photo on her own Instagram story with a three-word reaction.
“Baby girl the GOAT, love you Slim,” Hopkins wrote with several emojis before Reese replied saying, “Love you brotherrrrr,” also with emojis.

Hopkins also included other snaps of the game further on his Instagram stories, including a selfie of him donning Reese’s Sky jersey, Reese taking a free throw and a young fan holding up a Reese-inspired poster.

Hopkins is currently playing professional basketball himself as he is signed to the Fukushima Firebonds in Japan’s B.League. For the majority of his career, Hopkins has been playing the power forward position, even during his time in college basketball with the Georgetown Hoyas. Previously, he has had stints in countries such as Turkey, Bulgaria and Slovenia.
Given that he is a Washington, D.C. native himself, Hopkins may have preferred to watch Reese against the Mystics since the game was held in his hometown. Unfortunately for him and the Chicago faithful, Reese and the Sky ended up losing by a tight two points to Washington, 81-79, and now fall to a 5-13 record in their 2025 campaign.
Angel Reese’s Mother, Angel Webb Reese, Was Also In Attendance Alongside Mikael Hopkins

Besides her brother, Mikael Hopkins, Angel Reese’s mother, who goes by the same name, was also in attendance to watch Reese play against the Washington Mystics. The recently-named WNBA All-Star shared photos of her and her mother on her Instagram stories after the game.
“Twin, my gorgeous QUEEN,” Reese wrote with a heart-eyes emoji before following it up in another story saying, “HOT MOM.”
Despite the loss, Reese still put up 22 points on 5-of-9 overall shooting, 15 rebounds, four assists and a steal in 36 minutes of action. Reese and the rest of Coach Tyler Marsh’s squad will take on the Dallas Wings next on Thursday, July 10, on their home floor.
