‘Absolutely Delusional’ – Joey McGuire’s Roster Shakeup Draws Appreciation from Conference Opponent at Big 12 Media Days

Kenny Dillingham is getting real about the expectations for Texas Tech next season. The Arizona State coach discussed Joey McGuire’s squad’s chances of winning the league at Big 12 Media Day.

”[Texas Tech] probably had the best portal haul of any team in college football already on a good football team with a good football coach and a fun environment to play at,” Dillingham said. “Anybody who says they don’t have the talent to win the league is absolutely delusional.”

Texas Tech has built a star-studded roster this offseason. The Red Raiders have the best transfer class in the country and built a roster that reportedly cost $30 million. The resources being poured into the program make Dillingham’s stance about the team’s possible success valid.

Joey McGuire’s Texas Tech to spend $55 million on athletics

The Red Raiders are putting big bucks into athletics. Joey McGuire’s squad is reportedly planning to spend $55 million on athletics for the coming school year.

The Red Raider Club contributes $14 million annually, and Texas Tech has also gotten significant backing from billionaire alum Cody Campbell.

The effects of deep pockets are clear. Texas Tech has the top-ranked transfer class heading into the upcoming season and has secured five-star recruits with huge contracts.

Notably, the Red Raiders have five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo joining them this fall, but not for a small price. Texas Tech offered him a three-year, $5.1 million NIL deal, one of the biggest revenue-sharing agreements in college football recruiting history. The high-value deal highlights Texas Tech’s commitment to success.

The Red Raiders have gone to great lengths to set themselves up for success next season and fans will soon see if the high-dollar approach pays off.
