Caitlin Clark once got real about how she feels about haters during her rookie WNBA campaign. In a Sept. 19, 2024 press conference, the former Iowa Hawkeyes star discussed how she blocks out the noise.
Indiana Fever beat reporter Scott Agness shared a clip from Clark’s press conference on X.
”Obviously this last year of my life, whether it was college or whether it was the WNBA, I’ve definitely been in the spotlight,” Clark said. “I feel like keeping my mind right at all times is definitely hard when you’re 21, 22 years old and you’re doing this and everybody has an opinion on you.”
“I think for myself, what I’m most proud of is I’m really good at blocking that out. I don’t really care what people think of me,” she added.

Also, “I don’t feel famous. Like, I don’t feel like a celebrity. That’s not the way I approach my life and I approach people in my life. I still go to the grocery story…” pic.twitter.com/KjCBOsjnu2

Clark added that even though she drew a national audience during her time with the Hawkeyes and was the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, she doesn’t feel famous.
Amid the major change in her life that came with her rookie WNBA season, Clark stayed true to herself and learned how to ignore people’s opinions about her.
Caitlin Clark expected to return to Indiana Fever on Wednesday
After missing the past five games with a groin injury, Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark is expected to return to the court on Wednesday, July 9.
Clark has struggled to stay healthy this season. Before her current injury, the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year was sidelined for three weeks with a left quadriceps strain.
On Tuesday, Clark told reporters that she hopes to play about 20 minutes against the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday.
