Carmelo and Ex-Wife La La Anthony’s Son Kiyan Drops 1-Word Comment as Dad Shines On 2k26 Cover

Syracuse Orange commit Kiyan Anthony is all smiles with another achievement of his father and NBA legend, Carmelo. On Wednesday, July 9, former player Carmelo Anthony was announced as one of the cover athletes for the upcoming NBA 2K26 game. He will be featured in the ‘Superstar Edition’ and ‘Leave No Doubt’ Edition of the installment.

This prompted Kiyan to share NBA 2K’s official announcement post with a one-word caption on his Instagram stories just hours after the news broke. As the son of Carmelo and celebrity La La Anthony, Kiyan Anthony is celebrating one of his parents’ accomplishments. The 18-year-old is set to join his father’s former school, Syracuse, later this year.

“Hurddd,” Kiyan Anthony wrote on Instagram.

Joining Carmelo Anthony as cover athletes for NBA 2K26 are the 2025 NBA Finals MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Chicago Sky stalwart Angel Reese. Retiring from the NBA in 2023, Carmelo was a 10-time All-Star and a two-time member of the All-NBA Second Team. Before this, Carmelo took Syracuse to its lone national title in 2003, as his son, Kiyan, would look to follow suit.

Kiyan Anthony was ranked as the 36th-best prospect in the high school class of 2025 as a four-star recruit from Long Island Lutheran High School. He will join coach Adrian Autry’s Syracuse squad, which was recently eliminated in the second round of this year’s NCAA tournament by 20 points, 73-53.

Kiyan Anthony Recently Went on a Beach Trip with his Mother, La La

Apart from posting about his father, Carmelo, on his Instagram stories to celebrate him being one of the cover athletes for NBA 2K26, Kiyan Anthony was featured on his mother, La La’s, most recent Instagram post on the same day. It seems that the mother-son duo recently went on a beach trip. The younger Anthony is in his first offseason of college basketball before his freshman year.

“A little bit of Summer 🛥️☀️🍦,” La La Anthony captioned with several emojis.

Kiyan Anthony will now join his father’s alma mater, the Syracuse Orange, for the 2025-26 season and possibly beyond, after he made his commitment to the program in November of 2024. Syracuse, which last won the national title with Carmelo Anthony in 2003, finished the 2024-25 campaign with an overall record of 14-19 (7-13, ACC) and did not make the 2025 NCAA tournament.
