USA Basketball continues its dominance at the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup in Chile, with Texas star Madison Booker being one of the key players in the all-star line-up. During the quarterfinal game against the Dominican Republic, Moore went backdoor to score an easy hoop, and it got many talking as the Americans cruised to a 110-44 victory on Friday.
With that nifty play, her Texas Longhorns teammate, Aaliyah Moore, took to social media to claim that it was her who taught Madison Booker that move. Booker, however, disagrees with that claim in a hilarious exchange on social media.
“i taught you that huh @therealmaddieb_,” wrote Aaliya Moore
“Please.” replied Madison Booker on her Instagram story.
It was a dominant outing for USA Basketball overall, with Booker being one of the most efficient players on the court with 13 points, three rebounds, three assists, and a whopping six steals against the Dominicans.
However, it was LSU star Flau’jae Johnson’s night as she exploded for 22 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and four steals, while Notre Dame’s Hannah Hidalgo added 17 points, four rebounds, nine assists, and five steals.
The Americans locked down the game on the defensive end, as the Dominican Republic struggled the entire game. Team USA did not allow their opponents to build up any steam, preventing them from scoring over 13 points in each of the four quarters. The team will take on Brazil in the finals on Monday, with Team USA being considered the heavy favorites to win it all after a dominant display from the college stars.

The USA Basketball Women’s National Team had been dominant so far in the tournament, opening with a 61-point win over host Chile, 108-47, before dominating Colombia, 80-43, and Puerto Rico, 80-62. Maddison Booker and Team USA closed out the group phase 4-0 with a 104-48 win over Mexico.
This then led to that dominating quarterfinal win against the Dominican Republic, setting up that semifinal against Canada. However, the Canadians put up a fight, giving the United States its smallest margin of victory in the tournament so far at 12 points. The final score was 65-53.
The United States will then take on Brazil, a team which has had Team USA’s number in FIBA competitions. This Brazilian team seeks to continue its two-game winning streak, with the United States having a 10-7 record overall against the Brazilians in international competition.
