Johnson dazzled in the game against the Dominican Republic, leading all scorers with 22 points. She shot 8-for-12 from the field, including 2-for-3 from beyond the arc. She also made a living at the charity stripe, knocking down all four of her free-throw attempts.

Johnson, who grabbed seven rebounds and issued two assists, also displayed her defensive prowess against the Dominican Republic. She racked up four steals and one block in 20 minutes of action.

Ameen Brooks’ wife, Kia Brooks, also celebrated her daughter’s performance in the AmeriCup. She commented on a post from the Instagram page “Women’s Hoops Masterclass,” which showed Johnson’s highlights.

How Flau’jae Johnson Fared for Team USA in the Group Phase of the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup

Flau’jae Johnson’s stellar performance against the Dominican Republic was a welcome sight for coach Kara Lawson, as the LSU guard had struggled offensively in her previous outings in the group stage of the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup.

Johnson made her tournament debut against host nation Chile, scoring just three points on 1-for-8 shooting in the USA’s 108-47 victory. She followed that up with a scoreless performance against Colombia, missing all five of her field-goal attempts in the USA’s 80-43 win.

Johnson helped the USA record an 80-62 win over Puerto Rico, dropping five points on 2-for-5 shooting. She concluded her group phase campaign with another offensive dud, going scoreless in the USA’s 104-48 win over Mexico.
