Geno Auriemma’s UConn Huskies are facing a problem that most schools would love to have. On Thursday, ‘Just Women’s Sports’ Instagram page posted a photo of UConn’s newspaper ad asking its fans for help after the Huskies ran out of trophy space, owing to a highly successful 2024-25 NCAA season.

UConn caught the attention of its fans when it released a ‘HELP WANTED’ ad in a newspaper. The school explained why it needed help, writing that the UConn Huskies Athletics Department is seeking emergency trophy storage funds after a successful year.
“The UConn Huskies Athletics Department has had another outrageously successful year – so successful, in fact, that we are facing an urgent issue: We have too many trophies,” the ad read.
The Huskies noted that in the last season alone, they racked up 12 conference regular season and tournament team championship trophies, the Fenway Bowl trophy in college football, and the NCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship. The ad continued:
“That’s 14 major trophies. We’re running out of room faster than our student-athletes run victory laps. Closets are full. Offices are jammed. Here’s where you come in: We’re raising funds to build trophy cases, expand display areas, and possibly invest in a forklift.”
The school then prompted fans to ‘donate now,’ providing a website where they could send the necessary funds. The Huskies added that their supporters’ contributions will ensure that ‘trophies aren’t stored in gym lockers,’ their ‘hardware gets the showcase it deserves,’ and their ‘legacy has room to grow (literally).’
UConn Athletics concluded the ad with a funny statement, writing: ‘Championships everywhere. Now accepting donations and trophy shelving suggestions.”
Geno Auriemma’s UConn Makes History With 2025 NCAA Tournament Triumph
Geno Auriemma and the UConn Huskies made history in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, winning a record-extending 12th national championship following their victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks in the final in April this year.
Paige Bueckers ended her college basketball career with a bang, recording 17 points, six boards, three assists, two blocks and one steal in UConn’s 82-59 victory.
It wasn’t just Bueckers who starred in the win against Dawn Staley’s South Carolina. Azzi Fudd and Sarah Strong led the scoring for UConn in the title game, each dropping 24 points in the rout. Strong dominated for the Huskies, grabbing a game-high 15 rebounds.
