Penn State quarterback Drew Allar is being hyped up as one of the best quarterbacks in the upcoming 2025-26 season. A lot of Penn State fans are even predicting that he will win the Heisman trophy next season. However, college football analyst Josh Pate revealed he is not that impressed with Allar and flatly disagreed with one fan’s take.
In his Josh Pate’s College Football Show YouTube channel, Pate read out several hot takes from fans on X. One fan predicted that Drew Allar will win the Heisman trophy, but Pate threw some cold water at the prediction and noted several problems surrounding Alar and the Nittany Lions.
“Drew Aller wins the Heisman Trophy, that prediction coming to us from Tampa, Florida,” Pate read the tweet (1:41). “I’m going to put a nine and a quarter on the boldness level here.”
“Is this even in Penn State’s best interest? I’m sure that love for their quarterback to win the Heisman, but if Drew Aller wins the Heisman, and he does have the fifth best odds at FanDuel right now, what did Penn State do?” Pate asked. “Coz I think about the style that team needs to play, it’s not really conducive to Drew Holler winning the Heisman.”
“It could be that these portal additions they made at receiver, they just killed it on all of them, and who knows? Maybe they’re a little banged up at running back this year or maybe the defense is a maybe a little more leaky than we thought it would be. Maybe they have to score a little bit more, I guess it could happen,” he added.
Pate added that Penn State was 70th last season in passing yards and pointed out that Allar needs to be more consistent in his passing game to win that Heisman trophy. This makes the quarterback’s chances to win the trophy doubtful.
Drew Allar’s Stats Explain High Odds by FanDuel on Winning the Heisman Trophy
As for why FanDuel has Drew Allar at No. 5 in odds for winning the Heisman, it has more to do with his stats as he threw 262-for-394 for 3,327 yards in the air, leading to 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions after starting all 16 games. He also had 302 rushing yards on 96 carries with six touchdowns.
He has +1400 odds to win the trophy, behind only Arch Manning (+700), Garrett Nussmeier (+800), Cade Klubnik (+900), and Jeremiah Smith (+1300). However, these are still early odds, and the season has not yet even begun, so things might still change once the season actually begins in the fall.
