‘All That To Lose to Michigan’: CFB Fans React As OSU’s Jeremiah Smith Admits to Gaining Over 20 Pounds in 2025

Jeremiah Smith was the revelation for the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2024. He was the Big Ten Receiver of the Year, Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Rose Bowl Offensive MVP, First Team All-American, Freshman All-American, and First Team All-Big Ten in his true freshman season. And in case you forgot, he also won the national championship.

However, it seems like in 2025, he is coming in stronger than before. The player has admitted to putting in some more muscle during the offseason, which he expects will improve his performances:

“I’m at 225 pounds now. I was at 205 or 208 when I got to OSU. Body fat, I think I’m second lowest on the team. I just did 20 reps of 225 pounds on the bench and ran 22 miles per hour in a game.” Smith recently told the press

To this, some fans reacted in awe:

“Jesus Christ this dude was built in a lab man 💔” Wrote one person

“I’m hearing he’s 225lbs let’s goo … The next two years we’ll be huge” Said someone in excitement

That has to be so cap bruh 😂” Claimed someone else

“Extra weight means his hammy is going to pop this Fall…” Said someone jokingly

Other fans, however, aren’t so sure about things:

“but will Julian Sayin get him the ball?” Asked one individual

“all that to lose to Michigan” Joked another

    Jeremiah Smith’s Heisman Odds

Jeremiah Smith is among the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy next season, with BetMGM currently giving him odds of +1000. That ties him in the third spot for the best odds to win the coveted award, alongside Clemson Tigers’ quarterback Cade Klubnik. The favorite to win the trophy at the moment is Texas Longhorns’ signal-caller Arch Manning, with odds of +600, and he’s followed closely by his LSU Tigers counterpart Garrett Nussmeier, who has odds of +850.

Smith recorded 1315 receiving yards, with 15 touchdowns in 76 receptions last season. He also averaged 17.3 yards per catch. There’s no question the now sophomore can perform, the biggest question mark is whether he will perform with the untested former five-star Julian Sayin, the likely starter for the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2025. While in his freshman year, he had the benefit of working with a veteran quarterback like Will Howard, Smith will now be the experienced member of this new offensive partnership.
