UConn Huskies head coach Dan Hurley has done an exceptional job of developing the team’s basketball program. Since taking over the program in the 2018-19 season, Hurley has helped the Huskies become one of the premier programs in college basketball. Most notably, he helped the team win back-to-back national championships in 2023 and 2024.
Off the court, Hurley also has a thriving family life. On Tuesday, Hurley celebrated his eldest son Danny’s birthday and wrote an endearing message for him in an Instagram post.
The post read:
“Happy Birthday to my first boy!! I love him more than anything and I have so much respect for him as a man…It’s like looking in the mirror…we share so many of the same qualities…Scary shit…I feel bad for him!!”

UConn Head Coach Dan Hurley Has 2 Children With His Wife
While Dan Hurley has been working hard to build his coaching career, he has also worked hard to build a beautiful family. He married his wife, Andrea Sirakides, in 1997. They met while they were both students at Seton Hall. Together, they have two children. They welcomed their first son, Danny, in 1999. Their second son, Andrew, was born a few years later in 2002.
Both of Hurley’s sons have followed in their father’s footsteps, taking an interest in basketball. Danny attended the alma mater of both of his parents – Seton Hall. Andrew played basketball under his father at UConn and was a member of both of UConn’s national championship-winning teams.
While Hurley has a lot of relationships in the basketball world, the people he feels closest to in the world are his family members. In an interview with FOX Sports in January 2023, Hurley spoke about how he does not have many close friends. Instead, he views his family as his best friends.
He said:
“I don’t have a lot of friends, to be honest. Andrea and my boys are who I have, and they’re my world.”
This upcoming season, he will hope that the Huskies can bounce back to winning ways. After back-to-back national championships, the team struggled to return to form. Most recently, they were eliminated from March Madness in the second round.
