On Tuesday, July 1, New England Patriots player Will Campbell shared a story on his Instagram account that featured a picture of him and Walker Howard, his former LSU Tigers teammate. Campbell shared a heartfelt birthday message for the former Fighting Tigers player, writing:
”Happy Birthday to my brotha love you dawg @walker_howard4.”
Campbell and Howard share a deep connection. The former teammates played in different positions and spent a brief time together at LSU in 2022. Still, they developed a bond that would go beyond the program.
Campbell is currently playing in the NFL, as he was selected by the Patriots in the first round of the 2025 draft with their fourth overall pick. Meanwhile, Howard recently transferred to the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns after a stint at the Ole Miss Rebels (2023-24) in college football.
As evident in Campbell’s birthday shoutout, the two share a great relationship that must have been built during their time together as teammates at LSU.
Standing at 6’0″ and 190 pounds, Walker Howard was born on July 1, 2003, in Monroe, Louisiana. He is the son of former LSU quarterback Jamie Howard. In his lone season with the Fighting Tigers, Walker featured in only two games, in which he averaged 1.1 yards per attempt and had a 50.0% completion rate.
In his brief stint with the Tigers, he played behind Jayden Daniels. Seeking a better playing time, Walker opted for the transfer portal, which led him to Ole Miss. Continuing his search for a program where he could compete for the starting quarterback position, he joined the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns this year, which happens to be his hometown. He has two years of eligibility left in his deal.
Walker is at the crossroads. With two years to prove himself, his success in Louisiana would be the key to defining his future. Should he leverage his skills to vie for the starting role, his NFL Draft stock could elevate.
Will Campbell’s journey so far
Campbell, a former four-star offensive tackle recruit, was born Jan 6, 2004. Aside from being a starter at left tackle for three years at LSU, the Patriots star has won numerous accolades: a consensus All-American in 2024 and the SEC’s Jacobs Blocking Trophy.
Throughout his collegiate career, Campbell allowed only five sacks, which projects him as a great player with exceptional skill to protect the quarterback at an elite level.
His collegiate performance ultimately paid off when he earned a spot with the Patriots in the 2025 NFL Draft, as he became the first LSU offensive lineman to be drafted in the first round since Alan Faneca in 1998.
