Former Oklahoma Sooners guard Jeremiah Fears, who was selected seventh overall by the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2025 NBA Draft on Wednesday, stole the spotlight in the style department. Arizona women’s basketball star Jada Williams can testify to that.
The guard showed up with confidence, donning a deep maroon designer suit with bold patterning, layered with icy chains (including a dazzling “FEARS” pendant), shades, and a luxurious watch.
Williams shared a photo of Fears’ statement outfit on her Instagram story and declared it the ‘best.’
“Best dressed on bro 😮💨,” she wrote.

Jeremiah Fears Becomes The First Sooner To Get Drafted In The First Round Since 2018
Wednesday marked the first time in seven years that a Sooner star was drafted in the first round. After the Pelicans picked him at No. 7, Fears became the first Sooners star since Trae Young in 2018 to be drafted in the first round. There have been a total of 10 times now that an Oklahoma star has been drafted in the first round. Moreover, Fears was the 50th NBA draft pick in Sooners’ rich college basketball history.
Oklahoma head coach Porter Moser shared his feelings for Fears ahead of his special night.
“Our staff is so happy for Jeremiah on this special night,” said OU head coach Porter Moser in a statement. “He joined our program last summer as a 17-year-old and was way beyond his years with his dedication, work ethic, humility and willingness to learn. He is an ultra-competitor and is driven to be the best. He has earned this incredible moment and we are elated for him and his family.”
Despite being a freshman, Fears, who stands 6-foot-3, led the Sooners to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2021 last season. He averaged 17.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game in the process.
The last time the Pelicans drafted a Sooner guard was in 2016 when they drafted Buddy Heild sixth overall.
There is a lot of scope for growth for Fears with the Pelicans, who boast former first overall pick Zion Williamson alongside Dejounte Murray, Herbert Jones, and Trey Murphy III. He will share the backcourt with Jordan Poole, who was recently traded to New Orleans from Washington.
However, with the Pelicans, there is a downside as well. The team doesn’t often make the playoffs. It has happened only twice in the last seven years, and even on those occasions, they failed to advance past the first round.
Whether that changes in the coming years with Fears by their side remains to be seen.
