While Jim Harbaugh is currently the coach of the Los Angeles Chargers in the NFL, he is best known for his time coaching the Michigan Wolverines from 2015 to 2023. The legendary Michigan coach helped lead the team to three consecutive Big Ten championships from 2021 to 2023, which culminated in a national championship in 2023.
Following the national championship win, Harbaugh left the Wolverines in favor of joining the Los Angeles Chargers in the NFL. However, he is still extremely popular in Michigan. On Saturday, Harbaugh made his return to Michigan to support a local business, Randy Wise Automotive. The company’s X account posted a photo of Harbaugh with some of its employees on Saturday morning.
“We had a special guest today at Randy Wise Automotive. He wants YOU to attack today with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind! CoachJim4UM,” was the caption.

Before Harbaugh was the coach of the Michigan Wolverines, he had his first stint as a head coach in the NFL. He coached the San Francisco 49ers for four seasons from 2011 to 2014. He helped them reach the playoffs four times, losing in the Super Bowl in 2012 to the Baltimore Ravens.
Now that he has returned to the NFL, he is trying to help the Chargers take the next step forward with QB Justin Herbert. In his first season with the Chargers, he helped them reach the playoffs, but they lost in the AFC Wild Card Game to the Houston Texans.
Michigan Will Try To Bounce Back After a Poor First Season in the Post-Jim Harbaugh Era
The Michigan Wolverines are heading into the 2025 college football season trying to bounce back. After Jim Harbaugh left the team in 2024, Sherrone Moore was hired as his replacement. While the team had some impressive wins, including defeating the future national champion Ohio State Buckeyes in the final week of the regular season, the season was a disappointment for the Wolverines.
Despite winning the national championship in 2023, the Wolverines did not qualify for the playoffs in 2024, even with the expanded 12-team format. The Wolverines only won seven games in the regular season. However, they improved their record to 8-5 with a win over Alabama in the ReliaQuest Bowl. Michigan will be trying to take its strong finish to last season and use it to help it start strong in 2025.
