The timing couldn’t be more perfect. Lil Wayne’s album debuted with incredible momentum following his historic first-ever solo headlining performance at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The 19-track project features diverse collaborations with Bono, MGK, Andrea Bocelli and Wayne’s son, Kameron Carter.
From Music Videos to Championship Celebrations
The relationship between Mulkey and Lil Wayne blossomed through their shared connection with LSU basketball star Flau’jae Johnson, who balances her prolific athletic career with burgeoning musical aspirations. Mulkey played a pivotal role in facilitating Johnson’s collaboration with Lil Wayne on the hit track “Came Out a Beast.”
The LSU head coach expressed genuine surprise at being featured in the music video when it was released in October 2024, telling The Advocate: “Never imagined I would be mentioned or even seen in a rap video with Flau’jae and certainly not Lil Wayne. I know my own children went crazy when they heard Lil Wayne say my name in the video.”
Johnson credited Mulkey with making the collaboration possible, quickly giving her kudos and calling the whole situation a “blessing.”
“Coach Mulkey knows everybody — so it just kind of happened,” Johnson said. “And the song happened, the video happened… Coach Mulkey was in the video. So that was great. It was amazing. The whole situation was a blessing.”
