Atlanta Unveils Annual College Football Classic Spotlighting Georgia Powerhouse Matchups

AMB Sports and Entertainment has unveiled the Invesco QQQ Atlanta Gridiron Classic, an annual college football series at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Designed to spotlight storied rivalries and elite programs, the event debuts this fall with a marquee matchup between Georgia Tech and Georgia.

The 2025 matchup, scheduled for Nov. 28—Black Friday—will mark the first time the “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate” rivalry is held at a neutral site. Georgia Tech will serve as the home team for the inaugural game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which is owned by AMB Sports and Entertainment.

Looking ahead, the Georgia-Florida rivalry game will join the series lineup in 2026 as renovations begin at Jacksonville’s traditional host venue. The Bulldogs and Gators will square off in Atlanta next year before the game shifts to Tampa in 2027. The rivalry, often called “The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party,” is expected to return to Jacksonville in 2028.

The two initial games are tied to major financial implications for Georgia’s athletic department, which is projected to earn $17.5 million across the first two years of the Classic—$10 million from the Georgia Tech game in 2025 and $7.5 million from the Florida matchup the following year.

AMB Sports and Entertainment emphasized the city’s growing profile as a national hub for college football.

“Atlanta and Mercedes-Benz Stadium have long been recognized as a premier destination for college football, and the Invesco QQQ Atlanta Gridiron Classic is the latest opportunity for us to continue to build on our legacy of hosting world-class events,” said Doug Roberts, vice president of stadium events and premium sales.

Invesco QQQ, headquartered in Atlanta and the official ETF of the NCAA, will serve as the series’ title sponsor.

“This series reflects Invesco QQQ’s commitment to innovation and excellence, which are values that resonate both on the field and in the work we do every day,” said Brian Hartigan, Invesco’s global head of ETFs and index investments.

Tickets for the inaugural matchup are currently being offered exclusively to Georgia Tech football season ticket holders. Distribution will later expand to Atlanta Falcons personal seat license holders and UGA season ticket members as part of their away game allocation.
