After a strong 2019 season with Appalachian State, Eli Drinkwitz took over the Missouri Tigers in 2020. The program has seen steady consistency in performance over the last three seasons leading to a contract extension last year. Let’s take a look at Drinkwitz’s salary, contract, net worth, and other key information.
Eli Drinkwitz’s Salary and Contract in 2023
In 2019 in his first and only season with Appalachian State, the Mountaineers went 12-1 leading to Missouri hiring him as their next head coach. On December 9, Drinkwitz signed a six-year contract that was worth $4 million each year. $450,000 of that was his base salary with the rest coming from multiple other sources.
Last year, Missouri rewarded Drinkwitz with a contract extension that would keep him at the school through the 2027 season. His pay increased to $6 million per year starting in 2023. After the 2024 season, his salary will increase to $6.25 million with $250,000 raised every year through the 2027 season as it will get as high as $7 million per year.
At any point in the contract, if the school fires Drinkwitz, they will owe him 75% of his remaining salary. Looking at the other side, if Drinkwitz quits before the deal ends, he will owe Missouri $6 million should that happen before December 1, 2023. After that date, it will be $1 million less each year.
There are incentives to the deal as well for Drinkwitz based on the performance of the team. If Missouri won a national championship, he would receive $750,000 for the win. His compensation value can reach as high as $1.275 million.
One other aspect of his extension discussed was his salary pool for assistant coaches. Those increased as they went from $5.2 million to $6.3 million. His salary for support staff also increased from $1.2 million to $3.5 million).
Eli Drinkwitz’s Net Worth
There isn’t much on Drinkwitz’s current net worth as there isn’t much information about what he is currently worth. Based on what he was previously getting paid to what his 2023 salary is, his estimated range could be between $4 million to $6 million. That can’t be confirmed though as there are no reports regarding what his net worth is.

His new extension will help increase it though as he should at minimum make $6 million each year. That should increase based on any incentives he receives from Missouri.
