Former Syracuse QB Kyle McCord Shares Hilarious Reason Why His Mom Tried To Stop Him From Framing Holiday Bowl Jersey

Former collegiate quarterback Kyle McCord played in many big games throughout his career. Some of those games included one of the biggest rivalries in college football, Michigan vs. Ohio State. He has some great memories as a member of the Buckeyes and as the starting quarterback.

However, one of his more notable memories came after transferring to Syracuse for his senior season after spending his first three seasons at Ohio State.

He did not play much in his freshman or sophomore season, but became the starting quarterback in his junior year and had a solid season. In 12 games, he threw for 3,170 passing yards, 24 touchdowns, and six interceptions.

However, once he transferred to Syracuse, he was able to break out and have a career season. In that career season, he threw for 4,779 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Even though his interceptions doubled, he threw for ten more touchdowns and over 1,500 yards. He also finished 10th in Heisman voting.

His career season was good enough to get him drafted in the sixth round, No. 181 overall, by the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.

Game Memorabilia Important to Only Some in Kyle McCord’s Family

McCord’s time at Syracuse was solid as he was great on the field and able to land some signature wins, including an upset over No. 6-ranked Miami Hurricanes, taking them out of contention for the ACC Championship and College Football Playoffs.

In that game, McCord completely outplayed the future No. 1 overall pick in Cam Ward, as Ward completed one fewer pass with the same attempts, 349 yards, and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, McCord threw for 380 yards, three touchdowns, and helped his team deliver the win.

In addition, he helped his team tremendously, picking up a 52-35 win over the Washington State Cougars in the Holiday Bowl. McCord finished that game with 453 passing yards and five touchdowns.

McCord wanted to keep and frame that jersey, as he has kept game cleats and jerseys as memorabilia. His game-worn jersey in the Holiday Bowl was one of the two jerseys he kept from his college days. Even with grass stains and unwashed, he wanted to keep it framed.

However, his mom wanted the jersey washed because of the grass stains, and it smelled unpleasant. McCord told his mother he did not want her to touch his jersey and wanted it framed.

    Preferred Jersey Swap Unknown

Speaking of jerseys, now that McCord is in the NFL, he might have to join in on the jersey swap tradition that has become increasingly popular each season. That may be up McCord’s alley because he enjoys collecting memorabilia. The only question is who he would want to swap jerseys with.

Well, for him, the decision was pretty easy. He chose his former high school and collegiate teammate, Marvin Harrison Jr. He and McCord were teammates for six years (three in high school and three in college at Ohio State). The two have a great friendship that will most likely continue in the NFL, especially when their respective teams play against each other.

McCord helped Harrison Jr. put up monster numbers in his sophomore and junior seasons, which helped him get drafted No. 4 overall by the Arizona Cardinals. In both seasons, he had over 1,200 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns. In 2023, Harrison Jr. even finished fourth in Heisman voting.

Unfortunately for them, McCord’s Eagles and Harrison Jr.’s Cardinals do not play each other this upcoming season. Therefore, the six-year teammate reunion in the NFL will have to wait at least a season unless the two teams match up in the NFL Playoffs.
