Jon Gruden Couldn’t Believe What Oregon Sent Him
Unveiling the package sent to him by the Ducks Head Coach on his Social Media, Barstool Sports analyst John Gruden revealed a host of attire sent to him courtesy of Dan Lanning and Oregon.
“Man, this box here, the most mysterious, exciting box you might ever find, it’s the Oregon Ducks, the king of fashion.” The former NFL Head Coach began before diving into the package, calling back to the storied history of the Oregon Ducks’ fashion.
Oregon’s history of trendsetting attire began in 1996, when Nike co-founder Phil Knight formed a partnership with the school. The Ducks’ fashion has become synonymous with the team identity, and they change their uniforms almost weekly.
Most recently, during a game against Michigan, Oregon unveiled the “Heroes” gameday kit, a tribute to cancer research and survivors, a cause close to Head Coach Dan Lanning’s heart after his sister Sauphia beat cancer in 2017.
One of the key bits of gear Gruden acquired from his care package was a throwback helmet that dated back to 1936.
Finally, in the ending of the video, Gruden revealed a surprise cameo from another iconic Oregon figure, as he revealed a recorded appearance for NFL Quarterback and Heisman winner, Marcus Mariota, the first ever Heisman winner to play for the Ducks.
“What up Coach, those colors look good on you, can’t wait to see you back on the sidelines, love you man, and miss you much,” Mariota commented briefly, calling back to the history and relationship between the two, as the iconic Quarterback coach had previously worked with Mariota.
