Louisville Football Earns Analyst’s Nod To Challenge ACC Top Dogs Clemson, Miami in 2025

The ACC may be gearing up for another powerhouse showdown between perennial contenders Clemson and Miami, but a respected voice in college football thinks another team could crash the party.

According to sports analyst Bud Elliott, the Louisville Cardinals could make a surprise run at the 2025 ACC Championship, adding new energy to a program already on the rise.

ACC Analyst Gives Sleeper Pick That Could Derail Clemson, Miami

According to Bud Elliott, a noted college football commentator, Louisville could be a surprise contender to win the ACC championship. His reasoning? A mix of top coaches, a standout quarterback and many players with great potential. His view suggests that the Cardinals may be able to take on well-regarded teams like Clemson and Miami.

Louisville has high hopes for 2025 after finishing 9-4 last year and defeating Clemson, Kentucky, and Washington. Since head coach Jeff Brohm took over, the Cardinals have steadily advanced and could stand out in the ACC.

Bud Elliott’s confidence in Louisville stems largely from the emergence of Miller Moss at quarterback.

“I think I like a lot of the roster around new quarterback Miller Moss. I really think Jeff Brohm is a heck of a coach. Every coach that comes into Purdue after Jeff Brohm has left, basically, and every coach you know before has shown just how difficult it is to win at Purdue,” Elliott explained.

“He was winning six, seven, eight ballgames. The guy is just an excellent football coach. I like their receiving corps… I think they’ll be pretty damn good on defense this year.”

Moss is considered one of Elliott’s most promising quarterbacks in 2025, due to his ability to extend plays and stay composed under pressure. Louisville needs him to develop because it faces high-quality defenses in the ACC.

Brohm’s talent for strategy and background have also made Louisville a sturdy and aggressive squad. Louisville’s wins over major opponents make it obvious that Brohm excels at getting the most from his players and adapting strategies.

Elliott believes that stable leadership is why Louisville can be a surprise team that challenges the dominant ACC teams. He also mentioned that the team was happy with some of the defensive back transfers they landed in the portal.

With Jeff Brohm’s team rising and the arrival of Miller Moss making an impact, Louisville should be watched closely. If the Cardinals prove reliable in close games, they have a strong chance to shake up the ACC title race this year.
