Jazz Predicted To Add 6’10” ‘Tank’ With No. 21 Pick in 2025 NBA Draft

The Utah Jazz will make their second pick in the upcoming NBA Draft at the 21st spot, which they got in a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves. It will be the perfect opportunity for them to take a player that fits them like a glove, Thomas Sorber.

Utah Jazz Might Pick a Defensive Wall

The College Sports Network (CSN) mock draft projects the former Georgetown standout as the 21st overall pick, putting him in the Jazz’s orbit.

CSN’s scouting report on Sorber highlights his physical stature, his tremendous defensive prowess, and his suitability for Utah’s needs:

“Sorber is a tank at 6’10” and 255 pounds, using his physical presence to body the opposition on both ends of the court. That’s not to say he doesn’t have a soft touch around the basket, as he scored 14.5 points for the Hoyas largely on finishes around the basket.”

“Without a physical player down low with offensive capabilities, the Jazz could benefit from taking a shot on Sorber.”

Just one season with the Hoyas was enough for the 19-year-old forward to demonstrate his potential to take on bigger challenges. Sorber started 23 of the 24 games he appeared in for Georgetown and was so crucial to head coach Ed Cooley’s scheme that he averaged 31.3 points per game.

The Trenton, N.J. native proved to be more than just a wall on defense. His offensive production included 14.5 points and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 53.2% from two-point range.

He had little impact from the perimeter, attempting only 37 shots and shooting just over 16%, while his performance from the free-throw line was acceptable (72.4%).

Of course, it was his defensive skills that helped him stand out among his peers, starting with his physical measurements (6’10”, 255 pounds) that made him almost unbeatable in the paint.

Not for nothing, Sorber grabbed 8.5 rebounds per game last season, 68.47% of them on the defensive end (139 of 203). He also added 49 blocks and 35 steals.

It is good to add that Sorber has stated that he is not sure yet if he will stay in the draft or return to the NCAA for another season. He has until May 29 to make that decision.

Sorber was not able to perform as well as he would have liked at the NBA Draft Combine due to the injury that ended his season early. However, that didn’t stop several teams like the Bulls, Spurs, Jazz, Timberwolves and Pistons from meeting with him to sound him out should he decide to stay in the draft.
