A recent report from NFL Rookie Watch on X described why the Buckeyes pass-catcher is gaining so much steam. “Jeremiah Smith reportedly has ‘first overall pick potential’ in 2027, despite it being one of the most loaded classes in recent memory according to one NFL scout,” they wrote.
Meanwhile, several NFL scouts have earmarked Smith as the face of the 2027 NFL Draft class. According to reports, the 19-year-old will lead the way, along with Alabama WR Ryan Williams, Florida QB DJ Lagway, and Nebraska QB Dylan Raiola.
In the post, one NFL executive praised Smith as a rare athlete with skills and potential the league has never seen before.
“He’s got Tyreek Hill speed, matched with Julio Jones’ physical and receiving abilities. Defensive coordinators at this level have never schemed against a player like him.”
Smith is looking forward to the draft and has reportedly already stated that being drafted would be his dream come true.
The 19-year-old has impressive stats so far, finishing with 76 receptions for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns in 16 games.
Smith also recorded multiple 100-yard receiving games, including two in the postseason. Smith still has three years of eligibility with Ohio State but can go pro following his junior season. The 19-year-old also finished his freshman season with impressive numbers.
