Over a month ago, ESPN host Elle Duncan shared her opinion about USC star JuJu Watkins going down with an ACL injury in the NCAA Tournament.
However, that opinion was somewhat disguised in her words.

Elle Duncan Drives Home Strong Point
While talking to ESPN Radio after Watkins’s injury took place, Duncan did not want fans to forget about the other great players in the tournament.
“As deflating as losing Juju is, I hope that over the next few days, we can process it and remind people that there are a lot of great players and storylines still.”
Part of the reason why Duncan has become such a controversial host at ESPN is that, through certain takes, she has been brutally honest. Despite Watkins dealing with the major injury, that didn’t stop Duncan from wanting to push the conversation forward and move on from talking about Watkins.
Some people could see that as Duncan giving Watkins space. Others may see that as a host trying to hurry up the conversation and talk about other things.
JuJu Watkins is a Superstar
Watkins took home essentially every major award for the best player in the country this past season. She won the John R. Wooden Award, the AP Player of the Year, the Naismith College Player of the Year, and the Big Ten Player of the Year.
Watkins is currently averaging 25.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.2 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game in her career. She is an absolute star and deserves more respect than having a quick, little conversation about her injury.
Over a month removed from the NCAA Tournament, Watkins is progressing through the injury. While there are plenty of stars across the women’s game and while it is great to respect them, Duncan should also make sure that she is paying respect to the players who go down due to injury.
