As UTEP Miners football gears up for another season of football, fans are experiencing mixed feelings as this season is the program’s final year in Conference USA before joining the Mountain West in 2026. Under second-year head coach Scotty Walden, the Miners look forward to building on their 3–9 record from 2024.
Looking at UTEP’s football schedule of 2025, we get a hint of what we can expect from the program in their last season in Conference USA.

2025 Schedule Of UTEP
UTEP kicks off 2025 with a challenging non-conference trio. On August 30, they will face Utah State on the road. It is a Mountain West team that struggled to a 2–10 record in 2024 but benefits from home-field advantage in Logan. On September 6, UTEP hosts UT Martin, an FCS playoff contender from 2024.
Though favored, the Miners must avoid an upset like their 2024 loss to Southern Utah. The schedule peaks on September 13 at Texas, an SEC juggernaut who will likely rank in the top 10.
- August 30: at Utah State
- September 6: vs. UT Martin
- September 13: at Texas
- September 20: vs. UL Monroe
- September 27: vs. Louisiana Tech
- October 8: vs. Liberty
- October 15: at Sam Houston
- October 28: at Kennesaw State
- November 8: vs. Jacksonville State
- November 15: at Missouri State
- November 22: vs. New Mexico State
- November 29: at Delaware
UTEP’s CUSA journey starts September 20 with a winnable home game against UL Monroe, who went 5–7 in 2024. Louisiana Tech follows on September 27, a team UTEP nearly toppled last year.
October’s midweek games including: Liberty (October 8), a CUSA heavyweight after an 8–5 season, and Sam Houston (October 15), a 9–3 squad in 2024, will be a good test of UTEP’s form. A road trip to Kennesaw State on October 28 can be manageable.

November features home clashes with Jacksonville State (November 8) and New Mexico State (November 22). Road games at Missouri State (November 15) and Delaware (November 29), both new to CUSA, will close the season.
UTEP’s 2025 season will be a significant steppingstone to the Mountain West. A 5–7 finish could be a great addition to Walden’s CV, which in-term can boost the recruiting. A 6–6 record and bowl bid are possible if UTEP capitalizes on home games at the Sun Bowl.
